After reading the .pdf texts by Christine de Pisan that I sent today, post here your comments on the following:
In the writing of Christine de Pisan, do love and marriage go together like a horse and carriage? What are the sweetnesses of marriage of which she writes?

I believe that Christine de Pisan believes that love and marriage do go together like a horse and carriage. She is constantly talking about the sweetness of marriage and the tender moments between she and her husband. I think that she has a view of marriage that the love within marriage is the best thing in the world and there is nothing that can compare. Love seems to be experiential and is always within marriage. She would not agree with the writings of Marie de France one bit!
I agree that Christine de Pisan believes that love and marriage go together. She gives several examples of this throughout her poetry. She is constantly speaking of the sweetness she has found within marriage.
I Also agree that Christine de Pisan sees love as something that can be found in marriage. She considers her marriage and her husband gifts from God to bless her life.
Yes, Pisan does believe the two go hand in hand, but I wonder if she believed that was paramount or if she saw herself as a lucky one. Did she marry for love, or did her parents set her up with someone she already knew and found it easy to learn to love. It is just a very hard concept for me to come to terms with, arranging marriages. I couldn't imagine marrying someone without at least knowing them fairly reared in far different times.
